Computed tomography (CT) also known as a CAT scan, is a diagnostic imaging test used to create detailed images of internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels. CT is fast, painless, and noninvasive. During the exam, the x-ray source rotates around the patient, and each rotation produces a single cross-sectional “slice”. The cross-sectional images generated during a CT scan can be reformatted in multiple planes, and can even generate three-dimensional images. Our Toshiba Aquilion Prime 40 CT scanner acquires 40 slices per rotation. It uses automatic exposure controls to adjust radiation dose according to the shape and size of each patient and reduces radiation dose approximately by 40 percent.
