Falls Prevention presentation Sept. 21

The first day of Fall, (September 22, 2018) marks the 10th annual National Falls Prevention Awareness Day, sponsored by the National Council on Aging (NCOA). Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury deaths, unintentional injuries, and hospital admissions for trauma. Falls can take a serious toll on older adults’ quality of life and independence. Awareness is key to helping older adults and their families and caregivers, learn ways to reduce fall risk.

Central Community Hospital Physical Therapist, Jackie Bormann, will give a short presentation on “Falls Prevention” Friday, Sept. 21 at the Elkader Senior Center, 133 S. Main, Elkader. The presentation will follow the meal at approximately 11:45 am. Anyone interested in learning more on how to reduce the risk of falls for themselves or a family member, is welcomed to attend. There is no charge for the presentation.
