Cardiac rehab is a heart-monitored program and pulmonary rehab is a heart and lung monitored program. Both include education, exercise and encouragement to help change behaviors that affect each condition.
Most Cardiac rehabilitation patients are those who had a heart attack, open heart surgery, blocked arteries cleared, heart valve repaired or replaced, heart transplant and those who have excessive chest pain that is controlled by medication.
Most Pulmonary rehabilitation patients are those with lung problems including asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. Patients with lung diseases cased by exposure to dust, molds, chemicals etc. Patients who have had a part of their lung removed or had a lung transplant.
